Icon Vehicle Dynamics (www.iconvehicledynamics.com) is renowned for their beautifully machined, well-tuned suspension systems. Columbia Overland turned to Icon to get the Wingshooting USA Dodge up off the ground. Icon provided a set of their adjustable coilovers for the front end and taller progressive rate coils and alloy body shocks for the rear end. As with all Icon suspension systems, the Dodge feels more stable without sacrificing overall ride comfort. The Icon system installed easily and was an excellent fit in every regard. Thank you Icon for stepping in and giving the Dodge Ram a respectable stance!

Thanks to Andy for his patience as we took the time to dial in his 80 Series Land Cruiser! Armed with 440lb feet of torque, Andy’s Land Cruiser gets up and moves in a way the factory 6 cylinder couldn’t touch. The prodigious torque and turbo whoosh make it hard to stay off the loud pedal. The 6.5TD turned out to be fairly quiet and a smooth idler for being a big diesel. With the fuel mixture balanced, there is only a negligible amount of the tell-tale black smoke, which occurs only when the gas pedal is quickly floored. Overall, the Land Cruiser drives very well with the diesel under the hood. Thanks again to Andy for commissioning us to perform this diesel conversion for him!

Does this Tacoma look familiar? Probably so if you have been reading your Overland Journal and following the adventures of Scott Brady and Expeditions West. Scott built this 2004 Toyota Tacoma to go anywhere, including the Arctic Ocean in 2007 (www.expeditionswest.com/arctic_ocean/index.htm). The Tacoma has since changed hands a few times and undergone even more modifications. We recently performed some work on the Tacoma for Mike including rebuilding the coilovers, new suspension bushings, firming up the steering, a new Odyssey battery, and more.

Our 2011 TRD Tacoma came standard with a few amenities that we are very grateful for. There’s a 110V power outlet, tie down rails with locking cleats, and two storage bins. Although the larger storage bin is welcome, the plastic door is not weather resistant and the storage capacity is underutilized. Enter Tuffy Security Products Toyota Tacoma Bed Secuirty Box. The Tuffy box more than doubles the storage capacity, resulting in 710 cubic inches of lockable storage. Installation was a breeze and we even added a small piece of foam to the bottom of the box to protect the contents over rough roads.
